How it Works
PicoSure’s ultra-short pulse duration goes beyond photothermal action creating an intense photomechanical impact, patented PressureWave™, resulting in greater disruption of the target for better clearance with fewer treatments, less fluence and without injury to the surrounding skin. Even dark, stubborn blue and green inks, as well as previously-treated, recalcitrant tattoos can be removed.
In terms of pain, much less than traditional lasers.
First, the tattoo might be numbed or chilled with cool air. Next, as PicoSure™'s short pulses essentially break the pigment down into miniscule particles, most patients liken the sensation to a heavy rubber band snapping against the skin.
Sessions will last no more than 15 minutes. The number of sessions depends upon the size of the tattoo.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE PROCESS?
Your tattoo area may become swollen and red, and some patients may experience small blisters or pinpoint bleeding. This may last from a few hours to a few days.
Often, you'll feel a mild sunburn or itching sensation as well.
PicoSure™ generally leaves no scars. A small number of people tend to create abnormal scars, called keloids. For those people, there is a small risk of scarring from PicoSure™ treatments.
